kulula were recently approached by the producer of Z News to support their campaign to get the satirical puppet show finally on the air by providing flights for the cast and crew. At short notice we arranged a photo call at the airlines cabin simulator in Jo’burg. The result was some great coverage for both Z News and kulula including City Press, Rapport, The Times iol, iafrica, Carte Blanche and Zoopy.com amongst others.
This was our photo call announcement:
While The Z News puppets might still be absent from the airwaves, they are at least able to wave from the air thanks to kulula.com. The low-fare airline, in a show of solidarity with the cause of South African satire, has given wings to the campaign to get Z News, the satirical puppet show co-created by Zapiro, finally on TV.
kulula.com is supporting Z News by providing free flights for the cast and crew. On Thursday June 4th two of the most famous members of the cast, JZ and GodZille, flew between Jo’burg and Cape Town to campaign on behalf of Z News. Surprised kulula.com passengers on morning and evening flights travelled alongside the pair who (in a display of their new-found friendship) sat together along with executive producer Thierry Cassuto.
“Encouraging South Africans to laugh at one another is something close to kulula.com’s heart. We were delighted to host the Z News puppets on our flights and to support the cause of South African satire,” said Heidi Brauer, executive manager: group marketing at kulula.com.
