ghd Revelations was an event conceived and created by Atmosphere in collaboration with Hammer Live Brands (also part of King James). The aim of the event was to create a visually stunning illustration of the creative potential of ghd stylers and products and bring the brand to life for a core group of influncers. Consumers applied to the attend the event at a microsite, www.ghdstylediary.co.za, and the event was supported by extensive media relations and social media marketing.
The event itself was a creative twist on a fashion show where instead of sitting watching models go down a ramp - the audience explored a building with avant garde fashion scenes and performances spread around it. The reaction was great with over 400 guests queueing around the block to attend and an amazing atmosphere as people explored rooms full of visual surprises and delights.
Check out what some of the bloggers had to say about it:
This is a quick walk through some of the scenes:
After a wander down a corridor (which was one backwards talking dwarf short of a Twin Peaks scene) the audience came across a window where they could watch this young lady talking on the phone:

Nearby was a phone booth where her conversation could be overheard - there were also telegrams (sent from the girl to a lover):

Up some stairs from the phone booth and through a door you’d find a cabaret scene where there was a top-up of House of Krone MCC waiting. The vague idea was our girl from the previous scene was a travelling show girl so this was like walking into a memory. Quite a few people thought this was the end of the trip and settled down to chat before being surprised with the rest of the journey:

Through a curtain the audience walked on to a stage where spotlights gave the impression they were performing at the start of a show. The lights flipped and where the audience should be there was a scene of tango performers. I liked how this scene flips the viewer from feeling like a performer to being a spectator again.

Down some stairs and round a corner these two were sitting in what’s actually a broom cupboard. I loved how these two models got into character and were a bit freaky. They hand out blank telegrams to be used in a later scene.

This was many people’s favourite scene: the remains of a party with a slightly toasted party girl. The model was perfect and also got into character (tying balloon string to her toes and stumbling around the scene):

The final scene involved writing a secret on the telegram from the twins and tying it to a tree with the assistance of two models.
