“According to research from Sanlam Employee Benefits (SEB) - one of our key financial clients - South Africans are saving more towards retirement (even in the recession) but it is still not nearly enough. Our country has one of the lowest savings rates in the world and many of us won’t have enough money to maintain our lifestyle after we stop working.
Each year, SEB 2009 BENCHMARK™ Symposium produces comprehensive research into SA’s retirement industry, released at seminars and via the media to the retirement fund industry in South Africa. This year’s survey – themed Reality Check - also indicated that Western Cape retirement fund members are the least optimistic about economic recovery and the planned national social security system. Findings were derived from 200 face-to-face interviews with principal officers of stand-alone funds, 100 face-to-face interviews with participating employers in umbrella funds and 600 telephonic interviews with retirement fund members.
Atmosphere Communications conducts all the media relations around this survey and we always achieve excellent results for this fascinating topic. Recent coverage included Sake24, The Weekend Argus, Financial Mail, Business Day and The Herald amongst many other publications.
