Ok so this was an April Fools joke. But believe it or not kulula's attempt to trademark the sky did have a few people going for a while. The announcement came the week after kulula made headlines around the world for its cheeky new advertising campaign and the subsequent unamused reaction from FIFA. For April Fools we issued a release claiming to have trademarked the sky between 10000 ft and 35000 ft. We also produced a handy PDF guide to the trademark ... Read More

Atmosphere scooped the most awards at the PRISMs for a second year in a row! We usually only brag on behalf of our clients so do forgive us if we sing our own praises for a change. The haul included 4 gold and 5 silver and ranged from financial services through to social media. We believe it really shows that our approach of building creative platforms and a focus on business results pays off. We'll post some of the case studies in ... Read More

It was a three-month clandestine operation. We were sworn to total secrecy and anyone mentioning the word “internet” was threatened with instant decapitation. But finally we were allowed to reveal the big news from our longest-standing client, MWEB, late last week. And it was worth the wait.
MWEB, with backing from its parent company, Naspers announced the launch of the cheapest, unlimited internet access in South Africa. The move, which surprised the market, meant that South Africans are a step closer to being ... Read More

kulula is gearing up for the World Cup with a burst of activity. First off the latest design for one of their new 737-800's went supernova on the blogosphere (before the plane even touched down in South Africa). The story pretty much sold itself (but we were responsible for seeding it with some key bloggers). Coverage included some of the world's biggest blogs including Boing Boing (which crashed local blogger Chris Rawlinson's site when it linked to him) and Gizmodo. We then ... Read More

Atmosphere recently launched the Friendship 2.0 survey on behalf of MWEB. The survey was created by us (and carried out by TNS) to fill the information gap locally on how social networking is changing relationships and position MWEB as the experts on web in SA. There have been some great media results including extensive radio, print and online coverage.
Here are some of the findings:
Users in South Africa

Atmosphere recently launched the Kulula beach index for kulula.com. We worked with a freelance economist to figure out the cheapest beach destinations in South Africa - just in time for the summer holiday season. To get the figures we looked at the price of fish & chips amongst other typical holiday costs for a family of four. Stillbaai in the Western Cape came out as the cheapest and Camps Bay in Cape Town (maybe not surpisingly) came out as most expensive. The ... Read More
